Mr. Martin KEGEL

Martin Kegel is a research engineer at Natural Resources Canada, CanmetENERGY Buildings Group.
Over the past 8 years, Martin has been actively involved in reducing the diesel dependency of remote/northern communication stations, infrastructure and communities. The work involved close collaboration with the Department of National Defence and Defence Research and Development Canada ultimately identifying dual source solutions for Canada’s remote communities. Along with developing a universal energy metering and simulation solution, several projects have also included the demonstration of innovative energy solutions such as solar PV, fuel cells and heat recovery. P
art of this work has lead to a NATO funded Science for Peace and Security Project to develop a harmonized energy metering and simulation solution for NATO deployed camps.
Martin is also actively involved in the performance testing of cold climate air to air heat pumps and heat pump water heaters.
Martin Kegel is a University of Waterloo graduate, completing his MASc in 2006 and BASc in 2004 specializing in heat transfer and thermodynamics.
