CDR Andrea MANFREDINI
Summary / Experiences
Cdr Andrea Manfredini joined up the Italian Naval Academy in 1995 and he graduated as Ensign Officer in 1999. In 2002, he was qualified summa cum laude as Naval Engineer at the University of Genoa.
In the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade, from 2002 to 2006, he served on board the Italian Navy Frigate SCIROCCO as Deputy Chief Engineer Officer. During that period, he has been deployed to several operations/activities:
European Maritime Force (EUROMARFOR)
Standing Naval Force Mediterranean (STANAVFORMED)
From 2006 to 2008, in the rank of Lieutenant, he served on board the Italian Navy Patrol Vessel C.TE CIGALA FULGOSI as Chief Engineer Officer.
Later, he was assigned to the Italian Navy General Staff as Engineer involved in New Ships Design Office where he served from 2008 to 2012.
In 2012, he served on board the Italian Aircraft Carrier Vessel CAVOUR as Chief Engineer Officer.
On promotion to Commander, in 2014 he assumed the post of Head of the Hydrodynamic Branch and Chief of Navy Research Centre for Propeller Cavitation at the Italian Navy General Staff, before his arrival, in August 2017, at the NATO ENERGY SECURITY CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE as Head of Doctrine and Concept Development Division.

Cdr. Andrea MANFREDINI has a Master in International Strategic and Military Studies from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and the qualification at the Italian Joint Military College.
He is married to Paola, with whom he has two daughters. His interests include traveling, navigating on sail ships and clay pigeons shooting.
